Our Mission

The Ottawa Islamic Centre & Assalam Mosque is a non-Profit religious institution that is committed to playing a positive active role in the lives of the Islamic community (beneficiers of the Islamic Centre and Assalam Mosque) in the Ottawa-Carleton area.

Objectives of the Ottawa Islamic Center

The objectives of the Center are:

1- To provide facilities for Muslims to hold congregational prayers and observe their religious obligations according to the Qur’an and traditions of the Prophet Muhammad as reported in the recognized books of Hadith.

2- To operate ministries normal to a local mosque in various communities; to marry and ordain for ministry.

3- To organize lectures and conduct classes to teach Islam to its members and anyone who wishes to learn.

4- To co-operate with other Islamic organizations to promote religious programs, accoriding to the best traditions of Islam.

5- To assist those in poverty, providing basic human needs (food, clothing, shelter, etc.).

6- To take by gift, devise, lease or purchase and to hold real and personal property including all such lands, buildings, hereditament, and possessions as may from time to time be acquired or erected by the Center, and to use or occupy the same for the objects of the Center, and to accept on behalf of the Center any donations, gfts, legacies or bequests of any property, real or personal, and to invest the proceeds thereof or the income therefrom in acquiring and maintaining a place of worship and a facility for the purchase of theological seminary or similar institution of religious instruction.

Objectives of Assalam Mosque

Inform the general public about Islam according to the Quran, Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) and the first four Caliphs of Islam.

Provide educational and religious services for Muslims and support new Muslims.

Co-operate with Muslim organizations and make available information and programs developed for Dawah and Islamic education.

Provide books and free literature; organize lectures and seminars; coduct classes for Islamic knowledge and awareness; establish a library with books and reference material for research and studies on Islam.

Provide facilities to hold congregational prayers, arrange and conduct religious activities.
