RAMADAN MUBARAK

Salaam Alykum My Dear Brothers and Sisters. On behalf of The Ottawa Islamic Centre and Assalam Mosque tomorrow Friday April 24 is the first day of RAMADAN we wish you and your families a blessed month of Ramadan. The holy month of Ramadan is a time of reflection on our past year and renewal of our Iman and determination to serve Allah(swt) and his religion of Islam. This the month of fasting, when the gates of hell are closed, the gates of paradise are open and the devils are chained. When Ramadan enters, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hellfire are closed and the devils are chained.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim). Our beloved Prophet, may the blessing and peace of Allah be upon him, encouraged his companions and the early Muslim community to acts of generosity and righteousness in the face of adversity. Abu Hurayrah reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Every action a son of Adam does shall be multiplied—a good action by ten times its value, up to 700 times. Allah says: With the exception of fasting, which belongs to Me, and I reward it accordingly. For, one abandons his desire and food for My sake.
There are two occasions of joy for a fasting person: one when he breaks his fast, and the other when he meets his Lord, and the (bad) breath (of a fasting person) is better in the sight of Allah than the fragrance of musk. (Al-Bukhari).
Today, we represent the Religion of Allah and our blessed by Allah to be alive for the opening of this month of forgiveness. Please remember to support the masjid and take care of each other. We walk upon this earth with the mercy and protection of Allah the Most Gracious and Most Forgiving. In regards to COVID-19 and other calamities facing the Ummah, remember the words of the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him): “How wonderful is the affair of the believer, for his affairs are all good, and this applies to no one but the believer. If something good happens to him, he is thankful for it and that is good for him. If something bad happens to him, he bears it with patience and that is good for him.” (Narrated by Muslim, 2999).  May Allah cure our brothers and sisters.
I asked all the brothers and sisters to asked Allaah sincere forgiveness and make Towba
Jazakumullaahu kheyran
